The kit looked great in the photo. Forty pieces, six colours, endless creativity. It held her attention for one afternoon, then the glitter went everywhere, half the pens dried out, and the whole thing migrated to the cupboard where craft supplies go to die.
So the tablet comes back out. Not because you wanted it to — because it's four in the afternoon, dinner isn't started, and you've run out of ideas that don't create more work than they solve.
Meanwhile she's drawing constantly, and getting quietly frustrated. She knows what a horse looks like in her head. What lands on the paper doesn't match, and you can see the moment she decides she's bad at it and stops.
Neither problem feels urgent enough to fix. Which is exactly why both of them are still here in six months.
